I love playing Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook. It’s brilliant thinking from PopCap. It utilises the friends/viral-ness of the social network to do the leaderboard; it’s nice and short – 1 minute’s just about right to squeeze in between doing stuff that you’re meant to be doing; and it’s rather mindless – the perfect thing. :D
When I logged in to have a few minutes of play, there was a new alert – usually it’s just telling us that a new weekly tournament has started, but this time… it’s a tease! New Bejeweled Blitz!!!
Want a sneak peak at the new version of Bejeweled Blitz?
A new version of Bejeweled Blitz is coming soon, and our Fans will get to play it first. The feedback we get from our Fans will help shape the game. Become a Fan now to be notified when the new version is available!
So, I became an official Fan, not just a fan of the game because I play it so, oh so much. And then I saw some of the discussions… and the WHINGEING! oh my goodness “so and so must be a cheater”, “the developers keep changing the game so it’s harder and harder”, “there’s no way anyone could possibly get that score without cheating” blah blah blah, whinge, whinge, whine, whine. oh for fuck’s sake, shut up! Like the developer (or the representative of the developers – whatever his position, thank you Ryan Newitt (and yes, he is nice and does reply if he can – he replied to me! :D )) said,
We haven’t changed anything to do with the game code in quite some time now. I do know what you’re talking about though. Some weeks it just feels like nothing goes your way. This isn’t us messing with game code, it’s just the ebb and flow of a randomized game board.
Quit yer bitchin’ and just play more. Practice makes perfect and sometimes you’ll get absolute shit from a board, but other times, you’ll get power gem after power gem (and trust me, cascading those are a great idea) or you’ll get hyper gems lined up out the wazoo.
I love that they added the stats of you and your friends, and I love the score graph. It makes for interesting screenshots. Keep up the great work PopCap devs!
Oh, and I just remembered – it’s FREE. So, don’t complain! You don’t have any right to complain.
