Kobo is a no go July 19, 2010

I walked past a book store that had two Kobo readers available for demonstration. There was already one person trying one out, so I tried to use the other one. And failed. It was not responding. The other person said he’d tried to use it too, but it didn’t work.

He moved on, so I tried the other Kobo. The navigation was not as intuitive as one would expect, and the response time was hideously slow. I had trouble understanding why it was not responding only to finally realise that I’d been pressing the menu button instead of a button to turn the page. And this was after I’d tried swipe movements on the screen. How silly of me to expect that one could turn the pages by swiping my finger across the screen like one can on an iPhone or iPad.

I won’t be getting a Kobo, that’s for sure.
